Poem: Poverty Eradication

POEM

Poverty eradication has been on many lips,
numerous gentle men have embarked on trips.
Can this menace really be dismantled?
It’s ills have accumulated into tremendous heaps.

Poverty eradication has been attempted with gifts.
Can this mess be cleared with charity?
What really can be done to take suffering away?
Everyone needs help and yet everyone needs to help.

Poverty eradication features on many plans.
People have embarked on projects and have done many things.
This chronic ailment called poverty still seems to pesevere.
There must be a way, and yes, we must find it.

Poverty eradication receives numerous recommendations.
Applications and deliberations often surround the prescriptions.
Let us defeat poverty’s humiliation,
by the implementation of skill acquisition.

Poverty eradication requires a new approach.
Some kind of mental overhauling.
certain strongholds of the mind deserve annihilation.
With mental emancipation, there can be elimination of hunger and unemployment.

Poverty eradication now has numerous names and strategies.
One popular project is tagged poverty alleviation.
Names really don’t matter; people need empowerment.
Offer mental empowerment and a platform to manifest.

Poverty eradication has become worthy of note.
It is possible to improve our socio-economic conditions.
If it’s not done for us, we must do it for ourselves.
Everyone has something to offer; develope it and bring it forth.

Who am I really? Can that be defined yet? Probably by the time I'm long gone and all the pieces of my activities are compiled and analysed then you can know what you want to know about me. Meanwhile, I write. Not because I love writing but because I love people. I love to care and love to share. I'm a deep thinker and I love to believe in the impossible. The ideal is attainable and a shot at it must be given. Don't say 'It won't work' rather ask 'how will it work? Nobody is ever doomed unless they made the choice. To resist good and to adopt evil is already doom. To loose hope is to choose doom but to believe that every step is a passing phase leading towards your hope is to choose progress. I may go on and on but my posts say it all. I don't force you to agree, I only say enjoy!

  1. Coming from a country with such a high percentage of the population in poverty I feel that education, the kind that really opens doors and gives true opportunities is one of the most important tools in changing these people’s situation, I can only speak for my fellow mexicans but they are very accustomed to charity and being labeled as the less fortunate…attitude and the desire to achieve is also needed….but what I’d like to ERADICATE (because it really doesn’t depend on them and their attitude) is the homeless animal population, my God, to see a homeless dog roaming the streets literally RUINS my day and again, it’s all about education, educating the owner and reminding them that these creatures DO DEPEND on us, they can’t make it without us… 😦

    • Oh! Homeless dogs roaming the streets, without their owners caring? If only the owners knew better, it would not have been so. Interest comes from knowlege and learning comes from being taught. We will continue to teach and hope that people develope a willingness to learn.
Education is simply learning. Information brings knowlege and knowlege brings a desire for change and all of these end up in the transformation that we dream and hope for.
We will continue to develope ourselves and to share our discoveries within our capacity. And yes, we will increase our capacity to share, until everybody discovers the beauty in doing things right. Thanks for responding! 🙂
