Life: Bitter And Sweet, Pain Or Pleasure.

Bitter And Sweet Are Two Extremes Of The Same String.

Some people prefer their coffee black, while some others prefer cream.
Some people love to exercise, while some others consider exercise as stress.
Life may have it’s ups and downs while we may have our individual differences, yet whether we are happy or sad is up to us.
There may always be a reason to complain, to grumble and to feel bad, yet, if we look hard enough, there will always be a reason to be grateful.
Both bitter and sweet are detected by the taste buds. While some people cannot stand the taste of bitter kola, some others are addicted to it.
How you choose to respond to the circumstances that life throws at you, determines whether you will struggle or soar.
Life is good, whether there are challenges or not.
Tough times make us tougher and challenges often become our climbing stones.
If we reject our taste buds for fear of bitter, we loose the ability to enjoy the taste of sweet.
Our patience and perseverance through life’s processes, must be accompanied by hope and gratitude, else we would only endure even the things that we would have otherwise enjoyed.
Certain experiences may be painful, but when they are part of the processes that would give us the true eternal pleasures that we desire, or look foward to, then we must learn to joyfully endure them.
Certain pleasures ruin our dreams or future; they bring us pain or regret in the future. Such pleasures, we must avoid in order that we may secure a more pleasurable future.
Haste or premature entry often causes more pain than pleasure; they cause more harm than good.
Both bitter and sweet are part of life. The earlier we get prepared to handle them appropriately, the earlier we have a grasp of how to settle for more joy and happiness.
Certain joy comes from an awareness and not circumstances.
If we believe that there is hope, then we certainly will be more joyful in the midst of challenges.
Pain and pleasure may look like opposites, but one is often a gate to the other.
Bitter and sweet may be two extremes, but without one, the other would hardly be appreciated.
Whether we get to chew the bitter stuffs by choice or by circumstances, let us be reminded that we must not loose sight of the path to the ultimate sweetness.
Processes may be rigorous, but avoiding them means that the results could also elude us.
Pleasure or pain could be a process or a pathway, never loose sight of the destination.
Bitter and sweet may be passing phases, they must not frustrate us.
We’ve got to keep our eyes on the goal and consistently advance.
Those who quit cannot succeed and those who loose sight cannot win.
Bitter and sweet are temporary, we don’t have to be swayed by trivial things.
There are more vital issues that determine our progress.
Our values, our health, our relationships and our emotions.
What we consentrate on often determines what we get.
We must focus on the most important.
What means the world to me may not be worth a dime to you, but we can’t trade our values for the trivial things we see.
Love your neighbours and forgive your offenders, there can’t be any burden if you lay it all down.
Remain hopeful and grateful; that way, you’ll make progress and achieve success, whether or not there is bitter and sweet.
Pleasure and pain may be distracting, but like bitter and sweet, we must ensure that the vital is not displaced by the trivial.
Our focus matters, and that’s why we must focus on those things that really mean much to us.
Man does not leave in isolation. Let nothing steal away our joy. Share your life with those that love you and those that you love.
Have a sweet and cheerful life!

About teeceecounsel

Who am I really? Can that be defined yet? Probably by the time I'm long gone and all the pieces of my activities are compiled and analysed then you can know what you want to know about me. Meanwhile, I write. Not because I love writing but because I love people. I love to care and love to share. I'm a deep thinker and I love to believe in the impossible. The ideal is attainable and a shot at it must be given. Don't say 'It won't work' rather ask 'how will it work? Nobody is ever doomed unless they made the choice. To resist good and to adopt evil is already doom. To loose hope is to choose doom but to believe that every step is a passing phase leading towards your hope is to choose progress. I may go on and on but my posts say it all. I don't force you to agree, I only say enjoy!

  1. Great Balance Son and yes God said it is not good for man to be alone, we do indeed need each other but first we need God, He is never bitter and even if life is bitter when we have Faith He is always with us, He makes life sweet, meaning He gives us strength to endure and great inner Joy…….

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

    Christian Love – Anne

    • You have responded so well, Grannie.
      What else can I say?
I love the way the amplified version renders this scripture:
“We are assured {and} know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together {and} are [fitting into a plan] for good to {and} for those who love God and are called according to [His] design {and} purpose.” (Romans 8:28).
As long as we believe, we can benefit from the most demoralising or seemingly worst circumstances.
No wonder it is said that every disappointment is a blessing in disguise.
There is always a reason to be grateful, because God has provided us with all that it takes to meet all our needs.
It takes believing eyes to see. The eyes of faith keeps seeing a reason to be hopeful and the expectations of the righteous cannot be cut off.
I always enjoy the thoughts you share, Grannie Annie. I’m glad that you are strong enough to cheer both others and yourself, in times like this.
You are indeed a blessing to your family and to our generation.
      Keep up the good work.
      Regards to Ron.
