Prompt: Top Story On Assailants

Daily Prompt: Choose Your Adventure says “Write a story or post with an open ending, and let your readers invent the conclusion.”

I don’t have a story but I have an analogy.
I came across the news, true story or a real life story about a certain armed old man, shooting at two young assailants in self defence, killing one and injuring the other.
The link is below:

I wondered what other permutations and combinations could have been made out of the story.

If the old man did not defend the ladies and himself by shooting, could there have been a possibility that the young assailants would have been open to negociation? What could the story be like?

I have always desired to be a super hero, dreaming of disarming assailants and having my escapades on the headlines as breaking world news and top stories.
I loved games like hitman and was always looking foward to being the talk of the town.
I have severally composed stories in my imaginations of doing such escapades as the transporter.
Probably, I was interested in the fame that would accompany such breaking news and top stories but my priorities have changed.
My story has changed.
I now desire peace for the simple sake of peace.
I desire unity and love, not because of anything it would acrue to me personally, but for the sake of the peace it brings to humanity.
It pains me to see people being victimized and it seems worse to see other people’s reaction being an uproar of violence.
Is it possible to correct violence by violence in the name of justice?
Should victims remain silent and endure whatever assailants decide to inflict upon them?
Is it right to rejoice at the death of assailants?
Is it right to imagine the possibilities of their becoming better and more productive citizens or members of the society?
What stories do you create in your imaginations about situations that involve assailants?
Do you consider such degree of self defence that ends up in the death of your assailants?
What is your perspective of justice?
Where will you place your limit on forgiveness?
So imagine the scenario now;
-you are armed and skilled at self defence,
-you are escorting two vulnerable young ladies to a car at the parking lot,
-two young armed assailants approach you…
How would you like the story to end?

About teeceecounsel

Who am I really? Can that be defined yet? Probably by the time I'm long gone and all the pieces of my activities are compiled and analysed then you can know what you want to know about me. Meanwhile, I write. Not because I love writing but because I love people. I love to care and love to share. I'm a deep thinker and I love to believe in the impossible. The ideal is attainable and a shot at it must be given. Don't say 'It won't work' rather ask 'how will it work? Nobody is ever doomed unless they made the choice. To resist good and to adopt evil is already doom. To loose hope is to choose doom but to believe that every step is a passing phase leading towards your hope is to choose progress. I may go on and on but my posts say it all. I don't force you to agree, I only say enjoy!

IN an ideal world, it would be great to have a dialogue with these young thugs and find ways to inspire and encourage them to follow a different path… 🙂

  5. I shoot before they do. 🙂
