Recognizing Opportunities

Opportunities come disguised; they come dressed like work, risk or a complicated puzzle!

For me, an opportunity is a chance or a privilege.
For some, it is a chance to gain or be favoured. For some others, it is a chance to help or favour someone else or other people.
Whoever the beneficiary is, chances should not be blown.
People who only consider themselves, may miss many opportunities, for the simple reason that we often find help for ourselves in helping others.
We get paid mostimes for solving problems, producing results or rendering one service or the other to other people.

Opportunities hide in services.
You may not be in a position to render the particular service that is required but you may just know the right person that can.
It may be something that you can handle but may cost you some comfort or alter your routine.
Sometimes, they look entirely like an impossible task or a bundle of hardwork, but giving it a thought or stretching a helping hand, often opens up the way.
The decision to give it a try, despite all surrounding odds is often the key that unleashes opportunities.

Opportunities are often overlooked or neglected.
Since opportunities would rather show up in the form of a challenge rather than a reward, it would often be overlooked by over ambitious people.
Putting selfishness and impatience aside would be a good step towards recognizing opportunities, another step is; a willingness to help.
Would you be able to stay awake longer than usual or to wake up much earlier?
Would you be willing to forfeit some comfort or privileges to get someonelse’s problem solved?
Those are some of the little things that often make us loose a chance.

Opportunity is sometimes associated with luck or fortune.
Ofcourse, they are of different types and would always have different rewards.
Some opportunities are doors to a fortune while some are gateways to breakout of some sort of confinement or restriction.
It needs figuring out most times. It may also need courage and probably something outside your routine.
It may not be a consistent occurence and may not require your whole attention to switch to it, at the expence of your routine.
In other words, there are opportunities that come momentarily and there are those that come to change routine.
Try not to mistake one for another.

Beware of tricksters!
When someone is offering you mind-blowing rewards on very little services that anybodyelse can render, you must not accept in a hurry, especially when the source of your link to the person is not clear.
Secondly, when someone who claims to have the capacity to offer so much in return for your little effort, requires you to bring some token to enable it’s execution, then there is a possibility of something fishy.
When there is some sort of fraudulence or some opportunistic clauses to any offer, also beware. Unscrupulous acts don’t take people far.

Responsibility and reliability are the key factors that create room for such opportunities that turn circumstances around permanently.
Promotions, new offers, contracts, political appointments, nomination for awards and whatever things you may consider as opportunities, often spring from reliability and competense. It is therefore necessary to brush up any skills or interests that you have and to use them in helping others, even when there is little or no reward. It acts as a form of marketing of your services. It’s like sowing seeds randomly in numerous places. Some germinate and produce exceptional fruits.
Often make out time to render help both at leisure and in cases of emergency. Someday, your services will be required in more productive and influencial spheres. That is when some people will begin to acrue the elevation and change of status to luck. Somebody once defined luck as the moment when opportunity meets with preparedness.

Have you practiced your skills to ensure proficiency and precision? Do you keep claiming to have the ability or are you using it to solve problems? Action, they say, speaks louder than voice. Express the gifts you have and put your abilities to use. It may not fetch a reward at the onset but it definitely will.
If you have a good job, there are better ones. If you run a business, there are greater heights. The more you spread your tentacles, the greater your sphere of reach.
The more you use your abilities, the more useful they become.
Some opportunities are created while some are discovered or stumbled upon. But in whichever case, there is a willingness to meet a need, solve a problem or to be of help.
Wherever you see a problem, there is an opportunity.
Whenever you think of solving it, you stand a chance of grabbing it.
You may not have the necessary skill but knowing one who has, is already an advantage in your favour.
Making the necessary move to get the problem fixed is like positioning yourself as a reference in case of a subsequent occurence, as well as taking the strides to claim the resulting rewards.
Consistency builds reputation and reputation in turn attracts recommendation.
See: “Attracting Recommendation.”
There are opportunities everywhere, we just have to be prepared for them.
Develop an eye for recognizing opportunities and you will always have a filled day!

About teeceecounsel

Who am I really? Can that be defined yet? Probably by the time I'm long gone and all the pieces of my activities are compiled and analysed then you can know what you want to know about me. Meanwhile, I write. Not because I love writing but because I love people. I love to care and love to share. I'm a deep thinker and I love to believe in the impossible. The ideal is attainable and a shot at it must be given. Don't say 'It won't work' rather ask 'how will it work? Nobody is ever doomed unless they made the choice. To resist good and to adopt evil is already doom. To loose hope is to choose doom but to believe that every step is a passing phase leading towards your hope is to choose progress. I may go on and on but my posts say it all. I don't force you to agree, I only say enjoy!

This is great advice. Every one of the guides in my book (all 365) start with the words ‘Take the opportunity today to…’ – that’s why I find this post so enlightening. If we can see opportunities in everything we will enhance our own mission here. Well done. πŸ™‚
