Reaching Your Dreams

Reaching Your Dreams may appear difficult but that shouldn’t deter you from taking the necessary steps.

Have you ever been in a situation where you have a long way to go and the only option you have is to walk all the way?
Most often, the difference between our location and our destination is time.
As long as we keep moving in the direction of our destination, we will get there. It will only take time.
Sometimes we may need to walk to where a car is parked and drive to where a plane will fly from before we get to our destination but we must keep moving.

Just yesterday I had to get to meet with a few friends, but going home first to pick up my car would have cost me more time than I could afford. So I resorted to public transport instead, since I had ended the days work somewhere close to the meeting venue. The meeting was interesting and there were lots of issues to tackle. We continued till quite late but eventually the meeting came to an end.
I walked with one of those great friends and we spoke about blogging. I enjoyed the conversation so much that I didn’t bother about my means of transport but by the time we got to the bus stop, his route had enough cars to go but there was none for mine.
I wasn’t really bothered, “a car will come soon, I thought”.
He was gone for quite a while and yet no car had come.
To make the case much worse, my right knee was sprained!
All the while I walked with him, it was with a stylish hop.
I could afford to pay any rate but no cab was headed there.
I knew I had to get home but standing wouldn’t get me there.
I faced the path that lead closer home and began my stylish walk,
I remembered a children’s rhyme that had stange words, but had so much to say,
I chimed the lines and took my strides, keeping the pains away.

“Old Roger is dead and gone to his grave,
hum haa gone to his grave.

They planted an apple tree over his head,
hum haa over his head.

The apples grew ripe and were ready to drop,
hum haa ready to drop.

There came a great wind that blew them all up,
hum her blew them all up.

An old woman came and picked them all up,
hum haa picked them all up.

Old Roger got up and gave her a knock,
hum haa gave her a knock.

The old woman got up and went hiperty hop,
hum haa hiperty hop…”

I’m neither sure of the spellings nor the source but I called my style of walk ‘hiperty hop’.
In a short while I found a cute shop,
I bought one canned sprite and continued my walk.
In another while I reached a more central point, where I could get a means to transport me home.
Without hesitation I took the chance and in the final while, I was at my door post.
Oh how important it is to keep moving on!
It gets you closer and closer to your destination.

By the time I was home, I was sure of one thing;
Standing and walking are not equal!

Life is like a journey; with position and destination.
To reach your dreams or to do your intensions, you have to go ahead and take necessary action.
If your dream is your destination then there are times you must walk. Even with a sprained knee or an adverse condition, the only way to reach is to move with what you’ve got.
It may not get you there but to what will get you there.
I once wrote a post about moving beyond intensions, I think you should check it out:
Don't be stuck in intentions, get beyond!.

Meanwhile, don’t ever give up and assume all hope is lost.
You can reach your dreams once you keep moving on.
An airplane may be best but you may have to drive there first.
A car may get you there but you may need to walk to it.
Even if you’ll be carried, you must atleast be moving.
Do what you must do but make sure you reach your dreams!
Drops of water make a mighty ocean.
Little plus little amounts to much.
Start progressing from where you are; that’s the guarantee for reaching your dreams!

About teeceecounsel

Who am I really? Can that be defined yet? Probably by the time I'm long gone and all the pieces of my activities are compiled and analysed then you can know what you want to know about me. Meanwhile, I write. Not because I love writing but because I love people. I love to care and love to share. I'm a deep thinker and I love to believe in the impossible. The ideal is attainable and a shot at it must be given. Don't say 'It won't work' rather ask 'how will it work? Nobody is ever doomed unless they made the choice. To resist good and to adopt evil is already doom. To loose hope is to choose doom but to believe that every step is a passing phase leading towards your hope is to choose progress. I may go on and on but my posts say it all. I don't force you to agree, I only say enjoy!

Am I allowed to agree with every single word? Top post my friend, I don’t think it could be said any clearer. 🙂

    • Thanks much for those encouraging words. Ofcourse you are free to agree to the extent you wish to. I’m glad that there are points worth agreeing to. A friend of mine once said that most points are right as far as all things remain equal. That’s why there’s the popular phrase that comes before many declarations; “All things being equal…”
Let’s keep moving foward, we’ll definitely reach our dreams! Thanks once again Stuartart!

Great advice, for sure and so inspriational. Thanks for the encouragement in general. I’m sure we can all use an extra boost to keep us focused and on the right path. 🙂

    • You are welcome. Life should be about adding value. Our existence should help others go further, do better, get faster and reach their dreams. I’m glad these words could offer some encouragement. Thanks for the appreciation. 🙂

Very well said. It reminds me of the old say, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” We can’t go forward if we don’t move.

    • Exactly! This is exactly the point of this entire post! “We can’t go foward if we don’t move”. Movement as little as just a step can make a difference! The airplane may not have a place to land around us, so we don’t have to wait till you see it, we’ve got to step out to it and fly to our various destinations. Thanks for that concise and rich response!

    Hi,
How very true, I love the way you have written the post, and got your message across, I totally agree, the only way is forward and dreams and goals can certainly be reached. 🙂

    • Well said. We can certainly reach our dreams, no matter how ugly or hopeless the circumstances may look. Thanks for appreciating my style, I just tried to share my experience and the lessons that I could extract from it. There is no place for giving up if we must get there! Thanks much for stopping by.

I was really smiling as I read this wonderful post. Until I got to this sentence, “Standing and walking are not equal!”.

Those words really sank deep within me. It’s something I hope I never forget.

Thanks for this article. I enjoyed it like no other.

    • Thanks so much Johnson, I am smiling all the way as I’m responding to this comment! It is a beautiful thing that an experience that would wear others out and get them exasperated has turned out to generate lessons for us! The important thing is that I got home at last and despite the pain from my sprained knee, I had so much fun. Standing and walking are not equal; no doubt about that. I’m glad it appealed to you. Feel free to stop by anytime.

Absolutely amazing. “Even if you’ll be carried, you must at least be moving.” So true. Sometimes to reach our dreams we must rely on those around us. Iron sharpens iron, and I believe that we make each other reach our own goals in some ways. Even if that may be little at a time. (Which is something that you also said 😛 )

    • Well said! Iron sharpens iron. Two are better than one. Where the strength of one fails, the other can supplement. We should always be available for one another and contribute our own quota towards helping others reach their dreams, as some others may do for us as well. Little progress is better than no progress at all and minor breakthroughs can lead us to the major ones. One step at a time! Thanks for your contribution! 🙂
